NCT ID NCT04907188

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a stem cell treatment (HB-adMSCs) in one 84-year-old man who had a stroke. The cells were taken from his own fat tissue and given through an IV every 28 days for 6 doses. The goal was to see if it was safe and could help him recover. The study is no longer available and was not designed to prove the treatment works for everyone.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

autologous HB-adMSCs (stem cells from the patient's own fat tissue)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a treatment that helps stroke patients recover by repairing brain damage.

What could go wrong

This is a single-patient expanded access study, not a full clinical trial. Results may not apply to others, and the treatment is still experimental with unknown risks.
