First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether teaching mothers to wash their hands and add chlorine to household water can prevent diarrhea in children under 5. Over 800 children in central Ethiopia took part, with some families receiving handwashing education, some getting water chlorination supplies, and some getting both. The goal was to see if these simple, low-cost steps could reduce the number of diarrhea cases.
