Donor hands could restore life after amputation in groundbreaking trial

NCT ID NCT02476838

Summary

This study is testing an investigational surgery called a hand transplant. It aims to restore function, appearance, and feeling to the hands and forearms of adults who have lost them due to traumatic injury. The procedure transfers tissue from a deceased donor. Researchers will closely monitor 100 participants to see how well they recover and if their bodies accept the new hand.
