Could a smart vest replace the stethoscope?
NCT ID NCT07464444
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing a special vest called HALD that records heart and lung sounds. Researchers want to see if the recordings are as accurate as what a doctor hears with a stethoscope. About 200 adults with or without heart or lung conditions will wear the vest during a clinic visit. If it works, this could lead to remote check-ups where patients don't need to be in the doctor's office.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
HALD vest (cardiorespiratory recording device)
What this could lead to
If successful, this device could allow doctors to listen to heart and lung sounds remotely, making check-ups easier and more accessible.
What could go wrong
This is an early feasibility study with only 200 participants, so it may not prove the device works in all patients or settings. The recordings might not match in-person exams perfectly.
