First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This early-phase trial at the Cleveland Clinic is testing whether a form of hyaluronic acid (HA35) can help prevent muscle loss in people with alcoholic hepatitis. 54 participants will take either HA35 or a placebo capsule daily for 90 days. The study involves two in-person visits with muscle biopsies and tests, plus phone check-ins, to see how the supplement affects muscle mass.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a treatment to help maintain muscle mass in people with alcoholic hepatitis.
