Gut bacteria clues: h. pylori and IBD under the microscope
NCT ID NCT07292454
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study will check how common Helicobacter pylori infection is in 100 adults with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's or colitis) at the Guadeloupe hospital. Researchers will take extra stomach biopsies during routine endoscopy to study the stomach's bacteria. The goal is to see if H. pylori is linked to differences in gut health, which could help understand IBD better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If this study finds a link between H. pylori and IBD, it could point toward new ways to understand or manage these gut conditions.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early observational study with only 100 participants in one region, so results may not apply to everyone. It won't test any treatment.
