New drug combo aims to prevent dangerous transplant complication in kids

NCT ID NCT07350057

First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This early-stage study tests whether adding an experimental drug (VIC-1911) to standard medications can prevent graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in children aged 8-18 who receive a stem cell transplant from a half-matched donor. GVHD occurs when donor cells attack the child's body. The study will enroll 9 participants and first check the safety of the drug combination, then test different doses to find the best one. The goal is to control the disease, not cure it, as children will need ongoing medication.
