Microbiome mystery: could gut and vaginal bacteria predict cervical cancer risk in HIV-Positive women?

NCT ID NCT05996016

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at 400 women living with HIV to understand how the bacteria in their gut and vagina may influence HPV infection and cervical cell changes. Researchers will collect samples to see if an imbalance in vaginal bacteria makes these women more likely to get HPV and develop serious cervical lesions. The goal is to learn more about the connection, not to test a new treatment.
