First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether the bacteria in your gut can affect how your heart heals after a heart attack procedure called PCI. Researchers will measure a substance called TMAO, made by gut bacteria, in 144 patients. The goal is to see if TMAO levels are linked to changes in heart structure and function over time.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward dietary or probiotic strategies to improve heart recovery after a heart attack.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may find no clear link between gut bacteria and heart remodeling, and results may not lead to direct patient benefits.
