Scientists hunt gut bacteria clues to stop cancer drug side effects

NCT ID NCT05873231

Summary

This study aims to understand if the types of bacteria in a patient's gut influence whether they get diarrhea from certain cancer drugs. Researchers will follow 150 patients starting cancer treatment, collecting stool and blood samples to analyze their gut bacteria and inflammation markers. The goal is to gather knowledge that could one day lead to treatments, like probiotics, to prevent this common and debilitating side effect.
