First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study looks at gut bacteria and related chemicals in 120 adults to understand why inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and depression often occur together. Researchers will compare three groups: people with both IBD and depression, people with IBD only, and healthy volunteers. The goal is to find unique patterns in the gut microbiome that could explain the link between these conditions.
