Gut bacteria boost: could a probiotic supercharge cancer treatment?

NCT ID NCT05122546

Summary

This early-stage study is testing if adding a probiotic called CBM588 to standard cancer drugs (cabozantinib and nivolumab) can help patients with advanced kidney cancer. The probiotic aims to improve the mix of 'good' bacteria in the gut, which might help the body's immune system fight the cancer better. Researchers will measure changes in gut bacteria and see if the combination is safe and more effective than the drugs alone.
