Scientists probe Gut's role in dangerous transplant complication

NCT ID NCT04660487

Summary

This study aims to understand if there's a link between how a person's gut bacteria break down certain dietary carbohydrates (called FODMAPs) and their risk of developing graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after a bone marrow transplant. Researchers will recruit 100 patients who have successfully received a transplant for blood cancers. They will analyze stool samples to measure FODMAP degradation rates and see if it correlates with the timing or severity of GVHD.
