Gallbladder removal may make gut bacteria more sensitive to colonoscopy prep

NCT ID NCT07439640

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how the laxatives used for colonoscopy preparation change the gut bacteria in people who have had their gallbladder removed. Researchers will compare 10 people with prior gallbladder removal to 10 people with an intact gallbladder. All participants will provide stool samples before and after colonoscopy, and at 1, 3, and 6 months later, to see if the gallbladder-removal group's gut bacteria take longer to recover.
