Friendly bacteria capsules battle hospital superbugs
NCT ID NCT07496502
Summary
This study tested whether giving capsules containing healthy gut bacteria from donors could help clear dangerous, drug-resistant germs from hospitalized patients who need long-term antibiotics. Forty-two patients received either the bacteria capsules or identical placebo pills. Researchers checked if the treatment safely cleared the resistant germs from patients' stool two weeks later and tracked their health for a month.
