Special gum tested to fight gum disease and boost heart health
NCT ID NCT06029283
Summary
This study tested whether a chewing gum containing dietary nitrate (a compound found in vegetables like beets) could improve gum health and heart health. For three weeks, adults with mild to moderate gum irritation chewed either the special gum or a placebo gum. Researchers measured gum inflammation, took saliva and blood samples, and checked heart-related markers to see if the gum made a difference.
