Summary
This study looks at how a standard deep-cleaning procedure called scaling and root planing affects certain proteins in the blood and gum fluid of people with advanced gum disease. Researchers will compare 28 patients with stage 3 periodontitis to 28 healthy individuals, measuring markers like GPNMB, TGF-β1, RANKL, and osteoprotegerin before and after treatment. The goal is to understand how these markers change and what they might mean for bone health and healing.
