Scientists probe why Smokers' gums heal differently

NCT ID NCT07254117

Summary

This study aims to understand how gum tissue heals differently in people with severe gum disease, particularly comparing smokers and non-smokers. Researchers will collect small tissue samples during routine gum surgery from 46 participants to analyze healing properties and bacteria. The goal is to learn if certain gum tissues have better natural healing potential and how smoking might disrupt this process.
