New gel tested to boost gum disease treatment

Summary
This study is testing if adding a lovastatin gel under the gums improves the results of standard deep cleaning for periodontal disease. It will compare the gel to a placebo in 44 adults, including both smokers and non-smokers. Researchers will measure gum health over six months to see if the medicated gel works better.
