Dental crown removal: how fast do gums shift?

NCT ID NCT06783595

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tracks how the gums around a dental implant change shape right after the temporary crown is taken off. Researchers will use a 3D scanner to measure the gum area over 15 minutes in 34 adults who already have a front tooth implant. The goal is to find out how much time is needed before taking a mold for a new permanent crown, so the final crown fits better.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help dentists know how long to wait before taking a mold for a new crown, improving fit and appearance.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early observational study with only 34 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It measures temporary changes, not long-term outcomes.
