Meditation before cancer surgery may ease anxiety and pain

NCT ID NCT06949943

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a short guided meditation before cancer surgery can reduce anxiety more than sitting in silence. About 300 adults scheduled for cancer surgery will be randomly assigned to either listen to a meditation recording or rest quietly. Researchers will measure anxiety levels and later check if meditation also reduces the need for pain medication after surgery.
