Breath test could revolutionize asthma diagnosis

NCT ID NCT03926741

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at a new, non-invasive test to identify asthma patients with high levels of an enzyme called GSNOR, which can cause airway swelling. The test involves inhaling a substance called GSNO and measuring changes in breath and lung function. Researchers hope this office-based test could replace the current invasive bronchoscopy procedure and lead to more personalized asthma treatments.
