Scientists test hormone shots in bid to shrink HIV's hiding spots

NCT ID NCT03091374

Summary

This study tested whether adding a growth hormone injection to standard HIV medication could shrink the hidden, dormant virus that persists in the body. It involved 22 adults with well-controlled HIV who received daily hormone injections for 48 weeks. The goal was to see if this approach could reduce the viral reservoir, a key step toward eventually allowing people to stop their daily HIV medications.
