New PET tracer aims to reveal hidden myeloma spots

NCT ID NCT07660939

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new radioactive tracer for PET/CT scans that targets a protein called GPRC5D found on multiple myeloma cells. About 50 adults with plasma cell disorders, including multiple myeloma, will receive the tracer and then undergo imaging. The goal is to see if this method finds disease lesions better than current scans, and to check its safety.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
GPRC5D-targeted radiotracer for PET/CT imaging
What this could lead to
If successful, this imaging method could help doctors find multiple myeloma lesions more accurately, potentially guiding better treatment decisions.
What could go wrong
This is an early phase I study with a small number of participants, so the tracer may not prove safe or effective in larger groups. It is a diagnostic test, not a treatment.
