New hope for gout sufferers with kidney problems

Summary

This study aims to find a better way to treat sudden gout attacks in people with advanced kidney disease or kidney transplants. It compares two medications—anakinra and prednisone—to see which one reduces pain faster and with fewer side effects. The trial involves about 200 hospitalized patients who will receive one of the two treatments for up to five days.
