Could common gout pills influence dementia risk?

NCT ID NCT04746989

Summary

This study looked back at existing Medicare records to see if taking certain gout medications (probenecid or allopurinol) was linked to a different risk of developing Alzheimer's or other dementias. It analyzed data from nearly 300,000 older adults with gout but no prior dementia. The goal was to gather information, not to test a new treatment.
