Summary

This study tests whether children and teens with mild rheumatic heart disease can safely stop taking monthly penicillin shots or pills. About 922 participants aged 5-20 who have already taken penicillin for at least 2 years will be randomly assigned to either continue or stop the medication. Researchers will check after 2 years if their heart condition has worsened using ultrasound.
