NCT ID NCT02361528

Summary

This study tested whether a drug called GM-CSF could reduce secondary infections in ICU patients recovering from severe sepsis or septic shock. Researchers enrolled 166 patients whose immune systems were weakened by their initial infection. Half received GM-CSF injections and half received placebo injections to see if the treatment lowered infection rates.
