Licorice root extract tested as potential prostate cancer fighter

Summary
This study is testing if a compound from licorice root, called glycyrrhizin, can help control prostate cancer before surgery. Sixty men scheduled for prostate removal will take either a low dose, high dose, or no dose of the compound for about five weeks before their operation. Researchers will check if it lowers PSA levels (a cancer marker) and is safe, to see if it could be a future treatment option.
