Blood test may predict dangerous drop in platelets for brain cancer patients
NCT ID NCT02617745
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study involved 244 adults with newly diagnosed glioblastoma who were receiving standard chemoradiation (Stupp protocol). Researchers tracked platelet counts during treatment to see if changes could predict which patients would later develop dangerously low platelets (thrombocytopenia). The goal was to create a monitoring plan to catch this risk early. The study did not test a new treatment, but aimed to improve safety during existing therapy.
