NCT ID NCT06124521
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a personalized education and counseling program, called ComBaT Glaucoma, can encourage Black Americans at high risk for glaucoma to see an eye doctor regularly. The program is delivered through a community church setting. Researchers will track whether participants get eye exams at 6 and 12 months to see if the program improves access to care and helps prevent vision loss.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ComBaT Glaucoma (behavioral counseling and education program)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that community-based education programs improve eye care use and help prevent blindness from glaucoma in high-risk groups.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The program may not change behavior as hoped.
