New acid reflux drugs put to the test against standard treatment

NCT ID NCT06953986

Summary

This study aims to see if two different doses of a new medication called vonaprazan work as well as or better than the standard drug esomeprazole for healing severe damage caused by acid reflux in the esophagus. About 414 adults with confirmed, moderate-to-severe reflux damage will take one of the three pills daily for 8 weeks. Doctors will check if the damage has healed using a camera test and see if symptoms like heartburn improve.
