First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new drug called GenSci142, given as a vaginal capsule, for treating bacterial vaginosis (BV). About 30 women with BV will receive either GenSci142 or a standard antibiotic cream to compare safety and how well each works. The goal is to see if the new capsule is a safe and effective option for this common vaginal infection.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- GenSci142
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for bacterial vaginosis, potentially with fewer side effects or better long-term control.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early phase 1 trial with only 30 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The treatment may not prove more effective than existing options, and side effects are still being studied.
