Scientists search Babies' DNA for clues to mysterious brain injury

NCT ID NCT06762795

Summary

This study aims to understand if genetic conditions are a hidden cause of a serious newborn brain injury called HIE, which happens when a baby's brain doesn't get enough oxygen. Researchers will offer detailed genetic testing (genome sequencing) to 25 newborns with HIE who are receiving cooling therapy and their parents. The goal is to learn which babies with this injury might benefit from genetic testing and to see if a more complete genetic test finds more answers than a standard one.
