Genetic crystal ball for prostate cancer?

NCT ID NCT07491406

Summary

This study looked at whether a genetic test, called a polygenic risk score, can predict if early-stage prostate cancer will get worse in men who are being monitored instead of immediately treated. Researchers analyzed DNA from 185 men with low-risk prostate cancer who were on active surveillance, comparing those whose cancer progressed to those whose did not. The goal is to create a better tool to help doctors decide which patients need closer monitoring and which can safely avoid unnecessary procedures.
