DNA test could prevent second strokes by guiding medication choice

NCT ID NCT06292117

First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a quick genetic test can help doctors pick the most effective blood thinner for stroke patients. Some people have a gene variation that makes a common drug, clopidogrel, less effective. The test checks for this variation so doctors can prescribe a different medication. About 350 adults who recently had a stroke will take part, and researchers will see how well the test works in a hospital setting.
