Can a patient portal replace genetic counseling for breast cancer risk?
NCT ID NCT05325151
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tests whether a genetic counseling program delivered through a hospital's online patient portal works as well as traditional in-person counseling for women at elevated risk for breast cancer. About 874 women will take part, and researchers will compare how well each group follows screening guidelines, understands their risk, and feels about the counseling. The goal is to see if the online option can make genetic counseling more accessible and reduce the burden on healthcare providers.
