Gene therapy for diabetic foot ulcers fails to reach finish line

Summary

This study tested a gene therapy called VM202 for diabetic patients with foot ulcers that won't heal and also have peripheral artery disease. The treatment was given as shots into the calf muscle. The goal was to see if it could help close the wounds within 4 months. The study was stopped early after enrolling only 44 people.
