Scientists probe gene link to drinking behavior

NCT ID NCT06819189

Summary

This study aims to understand why some people might be more vulnerable to developing alcohol problems by looking at a specific gene called ZIP8. Healthy volunteers who drink alcohol but do not have an alcohol use disorder will receive controlled alcohol infusions and have their brains scanned. Researchers will compare how people with different versions of the ZIP8 gene respond to alcohol in terms of how much they choose to drink and how their brains react.
