Your genes could guide your pain pills: study tests personalized Post-Surgery relief

NCT ID NCT05966129

Summary

This study tested whether using a person's genetic information could help doctors choose more effective pain medications after surgery. Over 1,600 participants having planned surgeries were randomly assigned to either receive standard care or have their pain medication choices guided by a genetic test. The goal was to see if this personalized approach led to better pain control while reducing the need for strong opioids and their potential side effects.
