Hormone shot could boost Insulin-Making transplants

NCT ID NCT03746769

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a hormone called gastrin to an islet cell transplant can help people with difficult-to-control type 1 diabetes. Islet cells from a donor pancreas are transplanted to help the body make insulin again. Researchers hope gastrin injections will help these transplanted cells work better, potentially reducing or eliminating the need for insulin shots.
