Which breathing device is safest for kids' stomachs during surgery?

NCT ID NCT07555080

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at 250 children aged 1-10 having elective surgery to see how different breathing tubes (endotracheal tube, first-generation supraglottic airway, and second-generation supraglottic airway) affect stomach volume. Doctors use ultrasound to measure stomach contents before, during, and after surgery. The goal is to find out which device keeps the stomach emptiest, which may lower the risk of stomach contents entering the lungs (aspiration).
