Fasting before C-Section: does timing matter for stomach content?
NCT ID NCT07513675
First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study checked how long pregnant women fasted before a planned C-section and measured their stomach volume using ultrasound. Researchers wanted to see if longer fasting (8-10 hours) led to less stomach fluid compared to shorter fasting (6-8 hours), and if that affected nausea or vomiting after surgery. The study included 90 women and was purely observational, meaning no treatment was given.
