Scientists probe stomach speed to unlock diabetes mystery in black communities
NCT ID NCT03864562
Summary
This study aimed to understand why people of Black African and Caribbean descent have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Researchers compared how quickly a sugary drink left the stomach in 30 White European and 30 Black African/Caribbean adults without diabetes. They measured stomach emptying speed and its effect on blood sugar and gut hormones to gather clues about the origins of the disease.
