Summary

This study aims to understand why people of Black African and Caribbean descent have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Researchers compared how quickly the stomach empties a sugary drink in 56 healthy volunteers—half white European, half Black African/Caribbean. They measured blood sugar and hormone levels to see if differences in stomach emptying play a role in diabetes risk.
