First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether gardening (therapeutic horticulture) could reduce brain activity related to pain in 16 adults with chronic low back pain. Participants tried both gardening and handiwork sessions, and researchers used MRI scans to measure changes in a brain area called the anterior cingulate cortex. The goal was to see if nature and gentle activity together might help ease pain-related brain signals.
