IPad game aims to train young brains to fight OCD

NCT ID NCT06102941

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a game-like iPad program called cognitive control training (AKL-T01) in 60 children aged 8–12 with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). For 4 weeks, kids play the game 25 minutes a day, 5 days a week, to improve focus and self-control. Researchers will check if this training reduces OCD symptoms and helps children respond better to standard therapy afterward.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

AKL-T01 (cognitive control training via iPad game)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a non-drug, at-home treatment to reduce OCD symptoms and help kids get more out of standard therapy.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early study with only 60 children and no control group, so results may not be conclusive. The training is short (4 weeks) and may not produce lasting benefits.
