Experimental combo targets Hard-to-Treat pancreatic cancer

NCT ID NCT04098081

First seen Jul 01, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This phase 2 trial tests whether adding galeterone to standard chemotherapy (gemcitabine) can shrink tumors or slow disease in people with advanced pancreatic cancer that has not responded to prior treatments. The study enrolls about 15 adults with metastatic disease who have already tried at least two other therapies. Researchers will measure how many patients' tumors shrink and how long the disease is controlled.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
galeterone and gemcitabine
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could offer a new treatment option for patients with advanced pancreatic cancer who have run out of standard options.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 15 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The drug combination may not shrink tumors or improve survival, and side effects are possible.
