NCT ID NCT07003386
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether galantamine, a compound from the Lycoris aurea plant, can improve recovery in people who have had an acute ischemic stroke. The trial will involve 66 adults who receive either galantamine injections plus standard care, or standard care alone, for 10 days. Researchers will measure changes in stroke severity, motor function, and brain blood flow to see if the drug helps protect brain cells and improve outcomes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
galantamine (a plant extract from Lycoris aurea)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new treatment to improve recovery and reduce disability after an acute ischemic stroke.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 66 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug may not improve outcomes or could cause side effects.
