One pill before surgery could slash opioid use for wisdom teeth pain
NCT ID NCT04860141
Summary
This study is testing if giving a single dose of gabapentin two hours before wisdom teeth removal can help control pain while reducing the need for opioid painkillers during and after the procedure. About 98 adults having their wisdom teeth pulled will receive either gabapentin or a placebo pill before surgery. Researchers will track how much opioid medication is used, the level of pain experienced, and any side effects for three days after the procedure.
